WHY MELTDOWNS FEEL SO HARD

Meltdowns can make you feel like every option is wrong.

You don’t want to give in.
You don’t want to yell.
You don’t want to make things worse.
And you definitely don’t want your child’s big feelings running the entire household.

But in the heat of the moment, it can be hard to know what your child needs, what your role is, and what response will actually help.

That’s why you need more than random tips.

You need a clear framework.

HOW MANAGING MELTDOWNS HELPS

Managing Meltdowns helps you stop guessing and start understanding what’s happening underneath your child's big feelings and behaviours.

You’ll learn how to respond with more clarity, calm, and confidence before, during, and after those big moments - without giving in, escalating, over-talking, or losing the boundary.

Inside, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand what’s happening underneath the behaviour
  • Recognize what your child needs at different stages
  • Respond without feeding the meltdown
  • Stay calmer and more grounded in the moment
  • Protect limits without turning everything into a power struggle
  • Build a simple response plan you can actually use at home

MEET YOUR GUIDE

Hey! I’m Carla Stern, a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, Canada, a mom of three, and the creator of the Chaos to Calm Systems.

I help parents understand and manage big feelings, defiance, noncompliance, meltdowns, aggression, anxiety, and other challenging behaviours using evidence-informed tools from behavioural psychology, cognitive behavioural psychology, child development, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Parent Management Training, and nearly two decades of experience working with children and families.

I created Managing Meltdowns because parents are often told what not to do - don’t yell, don’t give in, don’t lose your cool - but they're usually left wondering what to do instead.

This course gives you a clear framework for understanding what’s happening and responding with more clarity, calm, and confidence when your child’s emotions feel bigger than their ability to cope.

WHO THIS IS FOR

This Is For You If...

This course is for parents who are tired of feeling confused, reactive, or powerless when their child has big emotional moments.

It’s for you if your child struggles with meltdowns, intense emotions, screaming, crying, shutting down, lashing out, or losing control - and you want a clearer way to understand what’s happening and respond effectively.

This is for you if:

  • You feel unsure what to do when your child melts down
  • You worry you’re either too soft or too harsh
  • You want to stop yelling, lecturing, threatening, or giving in
  • You want to understand what’s actually happening beneath the behaviour
  • You want practical tools you can use before, during, and after big feelings
  • You want to feel more calm, clear, and confident as the parent

This Is NOT For You If...

You're looking for a way out, a magic bullet, or someone to tell you there's an easy button. This course is practical, honest, and action-focused. It is not a magic script, a quick fix, or a promise that your child will never have another big feeling again.

This is not for you if:

  • You want a guaranteed overnight fix
  • You’re looking for one perfect phrase that will instantly stop every meltdown
  • You want to avoid boundaries, limits, or follow-through
  • You are not willing to reflect on your own responses or learn and practice new patterns
  • You want your child to change, or you want someone else to change your child without taking responsibility for changing the system around them

But if you’re ready to understand the pattern, respond with more confidence, and start building calmer moments over time - this course was created for you.
